Living in East Africa... EVERYTHING!! Most shop owners think they're doing you a favour by selling you their wares. It drives me crazy. I've actually walked out of a shop one time when the owner was busy chatting with someone in the back while I waited (politely) for him to finish.

As I walked out, he shouted "Can I help you?"

Five minutes too late.

My biggest pet peeve is when I'm on line to check out and my cashier is yapping with either another cashier a few lines over, or yapping to a friend.

This usually goes on during the entire transaction and the only time they ever stop to acknowledge me is to take my money.

Thank God for the Internet and self-checkout lanes.
