Thanks for stopping by! Hey, why don't you do what all the cool kids are doing and subscribe to my RSS feed? You know you want to, so go ahead, be bad, be very very bad... :) Thanks.
I publish this blog using WordPress and WordPress along with most other blogging software out there automatically puts a “NoFollow” tag on all comments and trackbacks . If you are not familiar with what this means, simply put, the NoFollow tag tells any robots i.e. search engines not to follow the links. In other words, if Joe posts a comment on this site and puts a URL of his blog in with his comment, a search engines will not count that link as being on my site. No Link Love
The reason this is the default for all of the blogging software out there is because of the unbelievable amount of comment spam that bloggers get on a daily basis. Spam artists will either post a BS comment to get their URL on your site or they will actually put a link to a specific post on their own site and hope that the link shows up on the recent trackbacks column.
Andy Beard has written several articles on this and has put together a list of plugins which remove the NoFollow command which he has added to his site. I totally agree with Andy’s thoughts and the only reason I have not done this myself is that I was concerned with the amount of spam I was getting on a daily basis. Though recently, I have added a number of new spam tools which has taken a great deal of time off of me having to do it manually.
With this in mind, I am happy to announce that the Hipster community will be sharing the link love. I have said many times before that the reason I have so enjoyed writing here is the great community of people who come on a daily basis and share their thoughts and opinions. I absolutely want to do everything I can to help their sites grow and gain more visibility as they have helped me.
So you will notice now on the right hand column under recent comments, each persons name will be hot linked to the site they write in when they were commenting. I am going to give this a try and as long as the place does not catch on fire, that is how it is going to stay.

Wow another convert
Now all I have to do is persuade you to comment on my blog as much as I comment on yours.
Here are some additional tips:-
Switch to using my hacked version of Sociable - that is 25 pointless links on a page
Add some kind of comments policy - it won’t solve all manual comment spam, but it does help.
Andy, you’re right, I do need to comment more on your blog.. I will try to change that immediately. I have already changed over to your hacked version of sociable and I just completed a commenting policy which has a link on the footer of each page as well as on the about us page. Many thanks as always,
Thanks for the nice info.
