Marketing Bloggers Bracketology

27 March 2007 by Cord Silverstein, 9 Comments

bracketJohn Moore over at Brand Autopsy put together a bracket of the top 64 marketing blogs and put us head to head for a little March Madness of our own. Unbelievably enough, Marketing Hipster was actually invited to the big dance..

We were seeded as a #16 seed which meant we went up against a #1 seed in Creating Passionate Users. I have been a reader and fan of Kathy and Dan for a long time and even though the Hipsters are scrappy and we had cinderella dreams in our hearts, I doubt it was even close..

The Hipsters got knocked out in the first round. As I mentioned in John’s post, it was an honor just to be invited to the big dance. John even created a PDF with the entire bracket, you get download it here if you would like.

We’ll be back next year I will tell you that. The Hipsters are no one hit wonder. :)

This is really funny. I still to post on our conversation from 2 weeks ago. My bad. I’ll do it ASAP.

Good job Cord. Just from glancing at the bracket, I see one of my favorite blogs, PSFK. I’m wondering what criteria this cat used considering PSFK is out of New York and its not really a markting blog, as much as a blog on marketing/culture. Jsut my 2 cents.

Next time, I will not hit “say it” until I have edited my comment. :) PSFK was in the South bracket, although they are based in NY. Good post thogh!

Rob … there was nothing analytical or statistical about how I seeded my tournament bracket. Strictly off-the-cuff. I just dropped in marketing-related blogs I read and think are interesting. Feel free to one-up me and post your own Marketing Bloggers Bracketology by taking a more analytical approach.

Rob – I think this was more in fun than anything else. But I was hoping the Hipsters would be the cinderella team of 07!! LOL

John – Thanks for coming by and explaining. I thought it was a great idea and really enjoyed seeing the bracket.

    John -

All good fun. It was a great idea and a fun concept! My apologies for splitting hairs…knuckleheadism is dominant iny my line. ;)

I’d much rather see more things like this in the blogosphere than the Kathy Sierra saga unfolding now. :)

If you could have only been a 15 seed Cord you could have turned an upset. The number 16 just isn’t kind to teams.

  8. Matt Haverkamp 29 March 2007 at 10:16 am #

Cord – you are definitely higher than a 16.

  9. Cord Silverstein 29 March 2007 at 3:08 pm #

Jud – I know, I could of been a champion. I wanted to be carried off the court. Think of it, I could of been the Rudy for basketball. :)

Matt – stop it, you are going to make me blush and I hate that.

    Thanks guys.
