Thanks for stopping by! Hey, why don't you do what all the cool kids are doing and subscribe to my RSS feed? You know you want to, so go ahead, be bad, be very very bad... :) Thanks.
So according to the video below, a member of the Geek Squad owned by Best Buy came to a women’s house to fix two computers when he placed his cell phone in her bathroom and pressed record to tape her in the shower. The geek guy is now arrested and of course the woman is suing everyone. Now I have a couple of questions about this but watch the video first.
Ok, so here are my questions.
1. I don’t understand - was the Geek Squad guy in the house, fixing her computers when she was showering or was he planning on coming back to get his phone?
2. If the guy was still there, who showers when a total stranger is in their house?
I just get the feeling that there might be more to this story than meets the eye. What do you think?

O geez. Of course that ambulance chaser Gloria Allred is on this. what a crock. How do we know that she didn’t see the phone before going into the shower and turned it on herself? Why is she taking a shower while a Geek is in the house? It is quite obvious this girl is doing what the Duk Lacrosse stripper did and is trying to retire early.
I guess I agree with you Cord…who in the hell would take a shower with a stranger in the house? There is way more to this story that no one is telling us. Also…at the prices that the Geek Squad charges I would want to make darn sure that the person is working and not just roaming around goofing off.
David - I feel the exact same way about Gloria Allred.. She is to women what Sharpton and Jackson are to the African-American community.
Andrew - Yea, this whole thing just does not add up and as David said in his comment, this might turn into another Duke stripper BS rape case. We shall see.
Thanks guys for the comments.
I agree that (as presented by some hack local news station) the story seems a little convoluted. Yet, I don’t really find the story so implausible. Is it out of the question that the “geek” involved would actually try to pull this off?
Also, If she was home alone, the shower-thing wouldn’t make any sense at all, but it sounds like here sister and mother were in the house.
Granted, Gloria Allred is a bit of a media-whore, but she didn’t pull this case out of mid-air. As far as the Duke rape comparison is concerned, I think we’re talking apples and oranges. The Duke thing was a possible felony with a potential 30 year prison sentence. That is to be taken seriously. This is a tech-savvy peeping tom who will likely get a slap on the wrist.
Steve - I don’t have all the answers and yes anything is feasible including the geek trying to pull this off.
Regarding your apples and oranges comparison, I was not comparing a peeping tom to a rape case, I was comparing these two cases as they both seem to have an accuser that might have ulterior motives and not telling the entire story.
I’m with you. Whether or not this actualy happened is debatable. What isn’t is the fact that she is looking to get PAID. There wasn’t much talk about justice, and if you look really really hard, you can almost see the dollar signs in her eyes.
You know, the more you read about the now defunct Duke case, the more it seems like the accuser was mentally unstable rather than malicious or greedy. She kept her identity concealed and never filed a civil suit.
Honestly, I feel really bad for those three Duke LAX players. That may be the nicest thing I’ve ever said about Duke.
Cord,
I didn’t say anything when you were intercepting pizza delivery guys in front of sorority houses.
I kept my mouth shut when you were camping out under staircases at the mall with a buckets of popcorn and cherry Icees.
But dressing up in geek squad gear and showing up at peoples houses to make cell phone recordings of the cute girls who live there is just too much.
Then you had the gall to blog about it like it was someone else!
Now that’s chutzpa!
Adam - I could not help myself, I love wearing those short sleeve white shirts with a black tie… And they actually give you a badge!!
May I ask the obvious question?
How did he know she was about to take a shower?
Vince- you beat me to the question.
Another question- Why was his cellphone in the bathroom anyways? Was it propped up? If so, I mean, how could she miss the cell phone as she entered the bathroom? I’d think it would be kind of obvious, pointing at where she would be and all.
Vince & Nathan - Your questions are just some of many I have on this whole thing. Nothing seems to add up correctly. As I said earlier, I think there is more to this story. We will see how all this plays out.
I can’t believe I’m making another comment here…
So if she’s got a “strange guy” in her home and she’s gone into the shower - why? Since she’s sued I’d say she cooked up the idea herself. Maybe she/he was trying to make a movie. Was the phone waterproof? (I couldn’t be bothered to watch the video).
Britgirl,
Why can’t you believe you are making another comment? That;s what the Hipster community is all about, commenting, discussing and sharing thoughts and opinions.
This story is far from over, I guarantee we will learn more in coming days.
I agree with you on both the questions raised.
Firstly if there is a stranger in the house no one would go to the shower.
Secondly when did he plant the camera in the shower and what was she doing at that time? If she was in the house, she would have definitely noticed this.
I think there are lot of unanswered questions here.
Her mom and her sister were home with the girl in question. The Geek Squad guy asked to use the bathroom before beginning his work and set up the camera then.
SO, if your mom and sister are also home it’s no big deal to take a shower I’d think…
Wk - I agree with you. But as several people have asked, don’t you think the phone would be easy to spot? You know we are not talking about some spy equipment here. We are talking about a cell phone. I think this geek had issues.. Thanks for the comments.
UPDATE- I contacted the LA Sheriff’s office today(4-13-07) and was informed that the ALLEGED Perp., Hao Kuo Chi,26, was released from Custody on 3-4-07(2 days after his unlawful arrest and imprisonment), and ALL charges were dropped!
RE:Insufficient evidence.
In my opinion, and asI suspected all along, the plaintiffs “claim” of various sordid personal violations appears to be COMPLETELY BOGUS.
Also, a careful perusal of various media web sites will clearly reveal NUMEROUS obvious inconsistencies in her story.
a. Contradictory statements regarding which sister actually first
“discovered” the “Geeks” cam. phone.
b. How the cam phone ACTUALLY was moved from the bath to bedroom of her younger sister.
c .Who actually notified the police of the alleged “crime/s,”-the
daughter, mother or stepfather.
d. How a cam phone with limited maximum 30 sec.recording capability could have POSSIBLY been programmed to video the accuser
at EXACTLY the time she “chose” to shower.
e. How a cam phone could be placed in clear line of sight of
the shower and yet NOT be detected BEFORE the accuser “suddenly discovered” it-after her shower.
Finally , and in case Gloria Allred, the notorious shake-down aka con-artist- lawyer is reading this, the above opinions express conclusions derived from a thorough, careful, and studied analysis of numerous web-based reports and interviews of the alleged “Victims/s”.

Michael - Thanks for the update. Can you share any media sources that is reporting all this?
Mr. JFK was killed from the grassy knoll;
The young lady taking a shower, was just taking a shower. Her sister was in the house.looking after the Geek Squader.
Some things are just as they seem even if we would rather have it a different way.
You’re welcome Cord.

Skeptics of my considered opinions, kindly refer to the following web sites regarding assertions a-e in my post #18 above:
a.:La Times.com “Best Buy,”Geek Squad sued over videotaping”. LaTimes.com/news/la/-me-geeksuit12apr12,0,5632551.Para:10 clearly states the older sister-Sarah Vasquez-
“discovered” the cam. phone in the sisters shared bathroom.
vs
a:Earthtimes “Women taped in shower sues Best Buy”.
http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/51157.html
Para:3 Clearly states that the younger sister, Kelly Rocha, “found” the phone in HER bedroom.
So EXACTLY WHERE-and by WHOM- was the cam. phone found-
In the Bathroom by the older sister-or by the younger sister-
in her bedroom?
Sounds like SOMEBODY can’t get her/their story straight!!
WHY would that be?

c.KMTR-BREAKING NEWS 4-13-07:”Repairman arrested after woman videotaped in shower”
http://www.kmtr.com/mostpopularstory.aspx…
Para. #5 states the women(mother and accuser,(daughter) called 911 and Chi was arrested.
vs
LaTimes.com: Refer to Eb ref above #a
Para. #13 states the SISTERS called their stepfather and he
called the police, who arrested Chi, at the “victim’s” house.
WHO actually called the police?- the sisters or the stepfather?
It strains credulity that they BOTH did-as the police obviously would have told the 2nd caller they had already been notified/alerted and a cruiser was on its way to the house, and the second caller to police would have probably known that.

PS.Interestingly, the “Geek squad agent” was shown to the daughters SHARED bathroom(ref-latimes.com-above),presumably by the elder sister and alleged “victim” in this oddly questionable scenario.
Exactly HOW many young women(,especially age 22) would feel comfortable with a stranger(man) in their bathroom? Unless of course to possibly frame Mr. Chi with his own camera? Just a thought…..
P.S.S. Again -a friendly reminder, and despite all the supposed
numerous”facts” and “evidence” put forth by the alleged “victims”, the police DROPPED ALL Charges against Chi who was UNCONDITIONALLY released 2 days after his wrongful
arrest and imprisonment.(Call 213.473.6100 to confirm this-
simply provide the officer with the name and age of the arrestee, Hao Kuo Chi, 26.
Perhaps Mr. Chi, Geek Squad and Best Buy, likely the true victims here, should seek legal counsel and aggressively sue Ms. Vasquez for false arrest and imprisonment, defamation, slander, libel, conspiracy, fraud, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, as well as compensatory damages for Mr. Chi for wages lost subsequently from probable termination.
Not to mention criminal prosecution for the probable filing
of a false police report,a misdemeanor in Ca.

Hey Fred or Chuck - JFK was killed by the grassy knoll and unfortunately in this world usually things are never as they seem. You got out of the house every once in a while you might notice that.
Thanks for the comment.
The biggest Flaw in this story is that camera phones have a very limited recording capability (30 seconds max), unless he could remotely activate it. no.and also.. shower curtains? who showers in line of sight of their toilet (where the camera was supposedly propped up)
