Thanks for stopping by! Hey, why don't you do what all the cool kids are doing and subscribe to my RSS feed? You know you want to, so go ahead, be bad, be very very bad... :) Thanks.
Ah wishes, I am a big fan of wishes. I wish all the time. I wish when I don’t even realize I am wishing. For example, yesterday I was driving and this old person who I think was actually dead, but just did not realize it yet, was driving in front of me. He was driving so slow, I think I could of gotten out of my car and walked by him on foot. As I am not a man who was given the gift of patience, I began to wish that I had some sort of laser or guided missle or maybe a grenade launcher that I could just press a button on my dash and BAM!!! No more old person in front of me. Ahhhh, if wishes could be true.
Anyway, this got me thinking of something that I have been noodling around with in my head for a while now and I thought who best to ask their thoughts and opinions on than the Hipster faithful.. So here is a challenge and question for you today and if you decide to accept this mission, I would appreciate your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
The Challenge:
Every blogger has a different reason why they blog. For some it is strictly a business for them. A place to hopefully supplement or become their income. For others, they enjoy the writing, the community and the feeling of being apart of something. Finally, I think others just enjoy being able to put their thoughts to paper as it were. While I think for many we share several of those traits, I think one thing that all of these types have in common is the desire to have their thoughts and opinions read and shared with others. If you are going to take the time needed to create a successful blog, you would like people to come and share that with you. Makes sense so far?
There are a great deal of opportunities to get your blog noticed. This could include social networks sites like a digg or reddit, to blogging communities like MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog then there is social bookmarking like del.icio.us and StumbleUpon. And let’s not forget the always great search engines and natural search results.
The Question(s):
With all these opportunities out there, what is presently missing? What would you change? What would your blogging community look like? If you wished to run MyBlogLog what would you want it to be? The sky is the limit folks, make a wish and let me know your thoughts.
The Prize:
Ooooh, there’s a prize? Yea why not, I just thought of it. The person who I feel has given the best ideas and made the best comments will have win the following:
For one solid week, the winner will receive top billing on Marketing Hipster. Right where the Bloggers Choice Awards icon is presently sitting, will be a short write up about your blog with a link to your blog. The winner will also be able to update that spot with news on a specific post the blogger wants to call attention to. That’s some good traffic being driven to your site!!
So get on your thinking caps and start thinking outside the box. Remember wishes have no boundaries.
I greatly appreciate your comments

I wish… I wish… I could stop reading blogs and get some work done today. Those campaigns aren’t going to plan them selves ya know.
I will stop by again later and add something more thoughtfully considered.
Hey there Cord - its funny because when I first thought about this topic I though gosh I really wouldn’t change a thing. But then again I like wishes too - like I wish I had mad bball skillz.
So I will put my wish list and track back to this post.
Cord,
I know what I would wish.
I would wish that you would go ahead and test drive Joost so we can do our tag team review. Additionally, I wish that this were a cool contest to give away the 3 invites that are most likely waiting for you in there.
I found mine and am looking for ideas on how to give them away. http://www.adamschultz.com/2007/04/18/i-just-recived-3-joost-invites-want-one-earn-it/
Maybe we use all 6 for one big contest?
Thoughts?
Ah, terrible post, Cord! Now you’ve got my entrepreneurial wheels turning and I won’t be able to sleep for at least a few days
To make a few comments- To me, blogging isn’t about readership so much as it is about finding like minded people to have conversations with. My wish, in that, is to meet all the bloggers on my blogroll (which isn’t working right now, but it’s around 50 some odd blogs).
I hope you don’t mind, but I’m going to write up my ideas on a post over on my blog and do a trackback to this one. It’s simply because I’ve got a fair amount to say and don’t want to flood your whole comment log (as I’ve already begun).
Ok… I have some very good wishes.
I would add a message board for certain.
I would have a blog or article with a detailed list of blogger protocol….. (since I have made so many mistakes) LOL!
I would have some sort of resource where people could ask questions.
How is that?
Can you tell I need help? LOL!
Hope all is well Cord,
Jen
Ohhh yeah… one more thing.
If I were an expert, I would come up with an article on how to get a blog going with step by step suggestions.
Maybe something like… thirty days to a successful blog or something where each day you get ideas from the most fundamental to the more advanced. This way, beginners could have some help getting started and they could add stuff as they get more advanced in their blogging skill.
But, it may be that most bloggers are pretty advanced and I am the only one who needs help!
Jen
Cord, here’s what I wish. MyBlogLog has a list of fans and pictures of folks who wish they could be your contacts. I check these out and there’s a few who do not fit with my purposes. I wish that I could delete pictures of people who list themselves as fans, but don’t really make a match.
Cord, the above comment doesn’t really go with the above post. Not sure why I see it because it was related to suggestions about MyBlogLog, a post you had a long time ago. Any way, please do delete it since it doesn’t fit….
In relation to your recent post on memes, you mention you’d like to attend more conferences. What do you hope to get from them, Cord. I’m curious about what you have in mind.
Robyn,
I think I would like to attend more conferences to hear different opinions and experiences people have had with marketing, but more importantly, I think I would like to continue to meet new people in this industry which I do not do enough of.
