Thanks for stopping by! Hey, why don't you do what all the cool kids are doing and subscribe to my RSS feed? You know you want to, so go ahead, be bad, be very very bad... :) Thanks.
You gotta watch this video…
Now this guy has an amazing voice yes, but that is not what makes this video as special as it is. What makes this special, IMHO, is that this is a guy who has absolutely no confidence at all, none. It took every bit of himself just to get up there and he hit it out of the park!
Who doesn’t love an underdog story?!?!?

Thanks for sharing this one!
Absolutely amazing.. Placido, Pavarotti, Carerras and now um.. this guy?
This is one underdog for the ages.
Wow. This is almost as amazing as your engagement news!
I fricken love this video. Now I gotta find somewhere so I can watch British Got Talent…
As someone who’s done stuff in music, the guy has absolute confidence in himself.
You watch him walk out, how collected he his. Note his posture, the smooth edges to the eyes… That’s the look of a man who knows he’s the best. A man who knows he’s already won.
The predjudice is huge, it shows how people can make assumptions based on their beliefs. Lucky for all of this this man was able to show us his gift to the world!
Pete - Thanks for your thoughts and I agree with you, once he started singing he was “in the zone”. I do not know if the confidence is still there before he started singing or afterwards, but it is an interesting item to discuss. Thanks for your comment.
Grant - Great point! As I said, a classic underdog story. Thanks.
In my opinion he is someone who is underselling himself. There are people who have been through several failures which makes them think they are not good enough. They can regain the confidence if they are encouraged by people around them.
In this video you can see as people start cheering him up he changes his posture and you can sense the confidence growing in his voice.
andhapp - You’re absolutely right… You could totally see him feed off the audience… Thanks for the comment.
Oh my GOD…I agree with you about the underdog angle, Cord - view it the way you choose. Here’s how I viewed it - GASP! I don’t recall the last time a voice ran chills up my back, took my breath away and brought me near tears. Paul was well rehearsed and well ready to knock it out - he knew it!
Bob - You are so right on… Paul rocks.
Just a heads up in case you didnt catch it. It was the final of tyhe show last night, and Paul won. He gets to perform on stage in front of the queen, and a £1ook cheque. Oh, and probably a new career…;)
Thank you Paul Potts. You made up my day giving me a great pleasure. You have a voice the angels should have to envy you for.
Your performance was inspiring. I hope you get the chance to make this your career.
What do you mean, “no confidence”??? He had confidence that no matter what the critics said, he was going to give a grand performance. He has mastered his craft, and didn’t need the approval of those three to prove it.
I can’t figure out how to see the video. Using Firefox over here. Is it on YouTube? If so can someone send me a link?
Brad,
The link to this video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA&eurl=
Hope you can see it. If you have more problems, let me know.
Confident doesn’t automatically have to be the opposite of nervous, guys! This guy is confident of his ability but nervous of how he’s going to perform (and be received) on this performance.
The real issue is why someone who’s good-but-not-special can have everyone saying how talented he is! I suspect it’s a form of (inverted?) snobbery. If he hadn’t been “just” a phone salesman would he have won? Not a chance. The audience fell for the idea that he was “punching above his weight” because he was doing something from the classical repotoire….
…. and frankly, as I say, doing it well but no especially so. His tuning varied, his power fluctuated because of his poor breath control… it goes on….
That said, hats off to the guy ‘cos he had the balls to get up their and *perform*!

The lady judge was about to cry.
I have watched the video of paul potts so many times and I never tire of listening to him. I love his story, his voice and his music. I wish him nothing but the best always.
Sincerly

All I can say is “wow.” I found your post via Seth Godin’s blog where he was talking about the video you posted. Thanks for posting it. My initial thought was, “oh no, this poor guy is going to get destroyed by the judges,” but to my surprise (and delight) it was absolute incredible. Truly inspiring.
Thank you for sharing this with all of us - a breath of fresh air to see somebody who kept up the daily battles and shines in the end.
Absolutely amazing.. Placido, Pavarotti, Carerras and now um.. this guy?
